Amazon debuted the first premiere of its F. Scott Fitzgerald adaptation The Last Tycoon, set to premiere July 28 on Prime Video.

The nine-episode series stars Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer and Lily Collins. It tells the story of Monroe Stahr (Bomer), a dashing and talented studio executive who struggles to find his place within the movie industry and the world. Monroe is caught in a power struggle with his boss and mentor, Pat Brady (Grammer), when a young Irish waitress catches his eye. Her spark just might be the fuel he needs to create a truly great and important film in his quest for power.

Set against a world darkened by the Great Depression and the growing influence of Hitler’s Germany, the series captures the passion, violence and ambition of 1930s Hollywood.

The Last Tycoon is co-produced with TriStar Television, and executive produced by Christopher Keyser and Billy Ray, along with Joshua D. Maurer, Alixandre Witlin, David A. Stern and Scott Hornbacher.
