Friends’ Central Perk was probably television’s coolest coffee shop, but fans of Gilmore Girls would rather hang out at Luke’s Diner, where the dirt was dished freely and the owner was hunky (if a tad grumpy).Wednesday, in more than 200 locations across America, they actually can, thanks to a Netflix promotion that is transforming select coffee shops into the iconic hangout.
On the 16th anniversary of the show’s 2000 premiere on The WB, the October 5 execution brings Gilmore Girls back into the conversation prior to the launch of new episodes on Netflix. Visitors to participating shops will find their local java hut, as the event’s press release suggests, “decked out with all the Luke’s Diner essentials,” which hopefully include the set’s strictly enforced “no cell phones” sign and the board with its unchanging 4-slice French toast special.
Free coffee will also be on hand until noon, delivered with a “fun surprise” under a “custom Gilmore Girls coffee sleeve.” Fans should also keep an eye out for official merchandise for purchase, including t-shirts and a branded apron.
In Los Angeles, the Comoncy Cafe chain in Beverly Hills and Studio City will be hosting the promotion, while New Yorkers can find it at Grand Central and The Bean locations. But fans in every state will have at least one Luke’s recreation available to them. Even Canada is getting in on the fun, with shops in Toronto and Vancouver.

Available on Netflix starting November 25, the new miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life will check back in with the residents of Stars Hollow over four episodes that follow the changing seasons.
