Fox plans to debut its new music drama, Star, directly following the fall finale of its big hit, Empire on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 9 p.m. To reveal that information, the network also pulled back the curtain on a new trailer for Star.
After its premiere, creator Lee Daniels and Tom Donaghy’s new series will move to its regular time slot on Wednesday, Jan. 4, while Empire, also a Lee Daniels vehicle, goes on hiatus.
Star, with the title role played by newcomer Jude Demorest, chronicles the lives of three ambitious young singers who are anxious for a new start and clamoring for musical stardom as they move to Atlanta to navigate the competitive music business.
The drama stars acclaimed actors Queen Latifah as Carlotta, Benjamin Bratt as Jahil, and fresh faces Ryan Destiny as Alexandra, Brittany O’Grady as Simone and Amiyah Scott as Cotton.
The show also will feature guest stars Lenny Kravitz, supermodel Naomi Campbell and actor/model Tyrese Gibson.
