Fox Sports on Monday announced a five-year agreement with Feld Motor Sports to broadcast such events as Feld’s Monster Energy AMA Supercross, Monster Jam AMSOIL Arenacross and the Monster Energy Cup. The events will start airing on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2 starting this January.

All told, the agreement represents nearly 300 hours of programming per year, including 115 hours of original programming and 51 hours of live coverage. The deal also includes digital coverage of all four Feld properties on FoxSports.com’s motor sports channels, which reaches 40 million unique users per month.

Starting with the season opener on January 4 at Anaheim’s Angel Stadium, 13 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship races will air live on Fox Sports 1. Re-airings will air on Fox Sports 2. Monster Energy Supercross is an off-road motorcycle race that takes place in stadiums.

Fox Sports will air 26 hours of original programming featuring Monster Jam monster trucks. Monster Jam tours the country, with more than 350 performances in front of four million people annually.

AMSOIL Arenacross, featuring Ricky Carmichael’s Road to Supercross, will have all 12 rounds of the arena-based North American off-road motorcycle series broadcast on Fox Sports 1, with re-airs on Fox Sports 2. AMSOIL Arenacross , which runs Jan. 3 through March 30, feeds into Monster Energy Supercross.

Finally, the Monster Energy Cup will air live on Fox Sports 2 with re-airs on Fox Sports 1 from Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium. The cup posts a $1 million prize for any rider who can win Supercross, Arenacross and the cup itself.

IMG represented Feld in the negotiations.

Brief Take: Motocross events are hugely popular with fans, and with sports rights scarce, it will be interesting to see whether Fox Sports can turn this acquisition—sponsored by such companies as Monster Energy drinks and AMSOIL, into a franchise.
