Fox unveiled it’s new jargon for the post-pilot season world on Friday, for those who were wondering how they would handle potential new series moving forward.
Friday morning brought world that Fox is giving the green light to drama “The Red Band Society” as a “series prototype"—basically an initial episode with backup scripts.
Another potential new drama, “Runner,” got what Fox is calling “an off-cycle commitment for further investment towards series production” later this summer. Translation: cash to hire writers and produce backup scripts for potential pickup later.
Fox’s Kevin Reilly made a big splash earlier this week at the TCA Winter Tour in Pasadena when he announced that the network was bypassing the traditional pilot season, which he viewed as a poor fit for today’s television industry.
