A blue Boeing jet with the LA to Vegas logo scrawled across the side was particularly alluring against the setting California sun.
Donned in sequined skirts, stiletto heels and layers of black, Fox employees, agency gurus and media personnel cruised onto the tarmac in ordered groups, made it swiftly through the portable metal detector, and took their seats.
Whatever happens on a one-hour flight does not, in fact, stay there—be it on Fox’s new series LA to Vegas, or Thursday evening’s whirlwind roundtrip premiere party for the upcoming show.
To promote the Tuesday, January 2 debut of the workplace comedy about an airline crew and the eccentric passengers who fly from Los Angeles to Las Vegas every weekend hoping to win big, Fox gave its employees and media outlets a chance to do just that.
The network packed people onto a plane at LAX that was decked out as the show’s fictional Jackpot Airlines. Passengers watched a customized pre-flight safety video before taking off for a party with the cast and producers at Lily Bar and Lounge at the Bellagio, and then flew back that same night.
The in-flight entertainment was, of course, a screening of the pilot episode of LA to Vegas, and marked Fox’s first premiere party at 30,000 feet.
The comedy stars Dylan McDermott (The Practice, American Horror Story), Kim Matula (UnReal), Ed Weeks (The Mindy Project), Nathan Lee Graham (The Comeback, Hitch), Olivia Macklin (The Young Pope), and Peter Stormare (The Big Lebowski)
LA to Vegas is from executive producers Will Ferrell (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Elf), Adam McKay (The Big Short), Lon Zimmet (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Chris Henchy (Entourage, The Other Guys), Owen Burke (Drunk History) and executive producer/director Steve Levitan (Modern Family).
