Based on Isaac Asimov’s iconic sci-fi series, Apple TV Plus’ Foundation will return this summer for a second season after first debuting in September 2021.

The sci-fi series creates an elaborate and distant galaxy that is ruled over by the Galactic Empire and its leader, Cleon 16, also known as Brother Day (Lee Pace.) Brother Day is actually a clone of the empire’s original leader, Cleon I, and three versions of himself – Brothers Dawn (Cassian Bilton), Day and Dusk (Terrence Mann) – are always hanging around.

Meanwhile, a dedicated band of exiles are working to create an archive – called the Foundation – of all human knowledge after psychohistorian Dr. Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) predicted the end of civilization. The above sneak peek offers a glimpse into what the exiles are up to next as the so-called “Second Crisis” begins.

Besides Pace and Harris, the series also stars Lou Llobel as Gaal Dornick, Leah Harvey as Salvor Hardin and Laura Birn as Demerzel. Joining the cast in season two are Isabella Laughland as Brother Constant, Kulvinder Ghir as Poly Verisof, Sandra Yi Sencindiver as Enjoiner Rue, Ella-Rae Smith as Queen Sareth, Dimitri Leonidas as Hober Mallow, Ben Daniels as Bel Roise, Holt McCallany as Warner Jaegger Found, Mikael Persbrandt as the Warlord of Kalgan, Rachel House as Tellem Bond and Nimrat Kaur as Yanna Seldon.

Foundation is led by showrunner and executive producer David S. Goyer. It’s produced for Apple by Skydance Television with Robyn Asimov, Josh Friedman, Cameron Welsh, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross also serving as executive producers.
