Flight of the Conchords’ Bret and Jermaine consider the plight of New Zealand’s “criminal owl,” also known as the Kakapo. The interesting-looking creature appears to be an owl masquerading as a parrot, clearly for malicious intent.

The pair muse on the couch, considering the “male of the species,” identifiable by beard and glasses, and the eventual prison in which the Kakapo finds itself.

BBC Two’s three-episode special, New Zealand: Earth’s Mystical Islands is airing now.

Bret and Jermaine also commented on some other segments from the show, including mating kiwis (“I think this is a mating pair. I recognize this behavior from my own mating,” notes Jermaine),

... and forest-dwelling penguins who have very ugly babies.
