Nestivity, a social media startup, recently conducted a study over a 30-day period to find out which brands are really speaking with, and responding to, their fans on Twitter the most effectively. The results show TV, sports and film brands heavily in the lead: ESPN lands at No. 3 of the top 25, Disney falls at No. 5, BBC Breaking News at No. 7 and CNN Breaking News at No. 9. Sports brands Chelsea FC, NBC, Arsenal, WWE and The Olympic Games all fall in the top 25 as well.

Also worthwhile to note: while they point out that follower count often means very little to engagement, the timing of brands’ posts just might. Social media fan engagement like Tweets sent between 2-5:00 p.m. PST. gets the most responses.
