Love and life prove confusing in The Bisexual, a six-part dramedy premiering on the UK’s Channel 4 on Wednesday, Oct. 10, and on Hulu in its entirety on Friday, Nov. 16.

The series, which won the grand jury prize at Sundance, stars Desiree Akhavan, who also directed and created as well as co-wrote with Cecilia Frugiuele.

In the show, Leila (Akhavan) breaks up with her longtime girlfriend Sadie (Maxine Peak)—who also inconveniently is her business partner—when she realizes that she’s not strictly a lesbian. Leila, an ex-pat New Yorker, moves out of the flat she shares with Sadie and in with novelist Gabe (Brian Gleeson) and soon the roommates are teaching each other a lot about what it means to be gay, straight or bi.

The Bisexual is executive produced by Naomi de Pear for Sister Pictures’ Hootenanny and produced by Katie Carpenter.
