The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences turned to the ladies of The Talk on Tuesday to help welcome the Daytime Emmys back to television, with nominations for the April 26 awards show unveiled live on CBS’ top-rated talker.

PBS led the nominations in the three categories honoring promotion and main title design with seven nominations—four of them for Marketing & Communications SVP Lesli Rotenberg.

LA-based Studio City, Warner Bros. TV, and Nickelodeon have two nominations apiece in the same categories. MTV, Disney Jr., and Daystar also got nods. (The full list for these categories is below).

NATAS is hoping Tuesday’s television and social media push surrounding the nominations will help turn the page from last year’s Daytime Emmys debacle.

After failing to secure a broadcast partner, the ceremony was quickly reimagined as a webcast. An ill-conceived plan to boost social media engagement by hiring red carpet hosts with massive Twitter followings backfired after a series of embarrassing live gaffes sent daytime stars fleeing the inexperienced hosts.

This year’s telecast is set for CBS sister cable network Pop, and will air live from the Warner Bros. backlot in Burbank. Pop is also reintroducing itself to the public following a January rebrand that ditched the old TV Guide Network moniker. Pop is planning an Entertainment Tonight-branded red carpet this year.

NATAS, the Daytime Emmys producer, is separate from The Television Academy, which awards the Primetime Emmys. But The Television Academy has come on board this year to help right the Daytime ship.

The 42nd Annual Daytime Emmys will air on Sunday, April 26 at 8pm ET.

The non-televised Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be handed out Friday, April 24 at the Universal Hilton in L.A. Jeopardy host Alex Trebek and The Brady Bunch star Florence Henderson are hosting.
