Starz revealed the opening title sequence and original theme song for the forthcoming adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling series.
The sequence features never-before-seen footage of the series, as well as an arrangement of the “Skye Boat Song” by Emmy-award winning composer Bear McCreary, with Raya Yarbrough providing the vocals.
The 1,500 fans at the Comic-Con world premiere screening of “Outlander” at San Diego’s Spreckels Theatre were the first to see the sequence on Friday night. The premiere is part of a much larger push that Starz is giving the series at Comic-Con this year, complete with fan photo-ops, hunky Scottish warriors, and street teams reminding Con-goers that “the kilt drops” on August 9.
Starz had previously released key art, the tag line, and a trailer.
The drama follows a British nurse from the 1940s who is somehow transported to 1700s Scotland.
“Outlander” premieres on Starz on August 9, at 9pm.
