Saban Brands and Cirque du Soleil Media unveiled a new pact Monday to develop kids programming based on the Montreal-based troupe’s famed live performances.

The deal includes a new television series, as well as web and interactive content, and merchandising.

“This new project promises to be a groundbreaking new kids property with worldwide appeal and numerous off-screen extensions,” said Saban Brands President Elie Dekel. “We look forward to sharing additional information in the coming months.”

Cirque du Soleil Media chief Jacques Methe praised Saban’s portfolio of “energized brands, bold characters, and fresh content.”

Saban’s portfolio includes Power Rangers, Popples, Vortexx, Digimon Fusion and Julius Jr.

CAA brokered the deal with Saban Brands on behalf of its client Cirque du Soleil Media. Terms of the pact were not disclosed.

Brief Take: Saban’s portfolio of recognized kids’ brands combined with Cirque du Soleil’s impressive track record with live performances creates the possibility for a breakout kids’ hit.
