​Nerd hero and “Doctor Who” superfan Chris Hardwick will host special pre- and post-show live broadcasts bookending the highly anticipated Aug. 23 season premiere of the series, BBC America announced Thursday.

Hardwick’s live specials will feature special in-studio guests, including writer and actor Mark Gatiss (“Doctor Who,” “Sherlock”).

The pre-show will air at 7:30pm ET, with the after show following the feature-length series premiere at 11:00pm ET.

A series of broadcast specials will lead up to premiere day, including:

-“Doctor Who: The Ultimate Companion” (August 16, 9pm ET)

-“The Real History of Science Fiction: Time” (August 16, 10pm ET)

-“Doctor Who: The Ultimate Time Lord” (August 18, 10pm ET)

A “Doctor Who Takeover Week” marathon kicks off August 18 on the channel as well.

Fans can also program one of the days of the marathon by voting online at BBCAmerica.com beginning Aug 6. The top picks will air on “Make Your Own Sunday” on August 24.

A nationwide theatrical tour of the season premiere kicks off August 23 at midnight, with 12 events in 12 different cities. Two days later, there will be two showings each in 550 movie theaters around the country.

Separately, the cast is heading on a 7-city world tour to pump up fans on ever continent. Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman and Steven Moffat will hit Cardiff, London, Seoul, Sydney, New York, Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro.

BBC America is partnering with Fathom Events on the tour. Details will be released through Fathom on August 5.
