On April 19, 1989, a female jogger was brutally attacked in New York’s Central Park. Five teenagers of color, later labeled the Central Park Five, were immediately accused of committing the crime despite a lack of evidence presented.

Now, on the incident’s 30th anniversary, Netflix released the trailer for When They See Us, the four-part miniseries based on the notorious wrongful conviction case. The series, told from the perspective of the accused young men, chronicles the events from when they were first questioned to their arrest, exoneration in 2002, and settlement with the city of New York in 2014.
