The upcoming premiere of CSI: Cyber will mark 15 years for the CBS franchise - a remarkable feat in television. But that’s not enough for the network that is about to launch the fourth iteration of the series (after CSI, CSI: Miami and CSI: New York).
CBS is going for something bigger - a Guinness World Record.
Before the March 4 premiere of Oscar winner Patricia Arquette’s new CSI: Cyber, CBS will air the episode of CSI that first planted the idea of the series spinoff and introduced the characters soon to be seen in the newest installment. CBS will try for the World Record for Largest Ever TV Drama Simulcast by broadcasting the CSI episode, “Kitty,” in more than 150 countries at 7 p.m. ET, preceding the series premiere of CSI: Cyber.
Leading up to March 4 (World CSI Day), CBS commissioned special artwork that is appearing on each show’s social pages (like below).

“When CSI premiered, I had no idea it would become the sensational global franchise it is today,” said Anthony Zuiker, creator of the CSI franchise and co-creator and executive producer of CSI: Cyber, in a statement. “CSI has taken on Las Vegas, Miami, New York and now, with CSI: Cyber, we dive into the vast world of cyber crime, where we can instantly be connected to anyone, anywhere in the world at any time. I can’t think of a better way to kick off CSI: Cyber and celebrate 15 years of international success than with a worldwide simulcast.”
The current world record holder for Largest Ever TV Drama Simulcast is the 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who, which was viewed across 98 countries.
