Premium network Epix on Thursday premiered the first full-length trailer for its upcoming Western series Billy the Kid, starring Tom Blyth and written and executive produced by Vikings’ Michael Hirst. The trailer first aired during a session at the winter Television Critics Association’s winter virtual press tour.

The eight-episode first season tells the origin story of famous American outlaw Billy the Kid (Blyth) after he and his family immigrated to America from Ireland only to discover that the New World wasn’t everything they had been promised.

After overcoming childhood tragedy and having to grow up fast, Billy – also known as William H. Bonney – becomes a cowboy and a gunslinger in the American frontier.

Besides Hirst, Billy the Kid is executive produced by Donald De Line for De Line Pictures; Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey for Amblin Television; Otto Bathurst, and Toby Leslie for One Big Picture. Billy the Kid is a co-production between Epix Studios and MGM International Television Productions, in association with Nordic Entertainment Groups streaming service Viaplay. The series will be internationally distributed by MGM.
