To create the main titles for Netflix’s new series, Atypical, creative agency Big Machine worked closely with series director Seth Gordon and creator Robia Rashid.
The resulting project, which appears simple but was complicated to create, combines hand-drawn elements with meticulously modeled CGI, with all animation created in Cinema 4D using Octane Render.
Atypical stars Keir Gilchrist (United States of Tara) as an autistic teen obsessed with Antarctica who’s decided it’s time to start dating. That decision affects his whole family, including his mother Elsa (Jennifer Jason Leigh), father Doug (Michael Rapaport) and sister Casey (Brigette Lundy-Paine). Netflix dropped all eight episodes of the show on Aug. 11.
