AMC released a photo from the set of “Better Call Saul” Thursday, pushed its debut date to 2015, and if that wasn’t enough, went ahead and renewed the as-yet-unseen series for a second season (for a total of 23 episodes, so far).

“Better Call Saul,” the “Breaking Bad” spinoff from AMC focusing on sleazy lawyer Saul Goodman (played by Bob Odenkirk), will start as a 10-episode run on AMC early next year, followed by 13 episodes in 2016. “Breaking Bad” creator/showrunner, Vince Gilligan, is on board to direct the premiere episode of the drama and will act as co-showrunner with Peter Gould, who originally created the Saul character. The first-look photo features Odenkirk, Gould and Gilligan on set in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

According to AMC President, Charlie Collier:

“When introducing any series, especially one with the DNA of ‘Breaking Bad,’ there are countless factors to consider in making sure the show gets the launch it deserves. We have a strong history with Vince, Peter, Bob, the studio and so many involved with this production; we are enjoying the process on ‘Saul’ and all share a focus on making it a true television event. No half measures.”

AMC’s aim is to slate “Better Call Saul” with its other drama hit, “The Walking Dead,” in the first quarter of the year.
