“I need to remind you what you think is real, never occured,” Aubrey Plaza tells viewers in FX’s mind-bending promo for season two of Legion.
The trippy spot features Plaza’s character Lenny playing psychiatrist as she explains that David Haller is “a figment; a reflection of who you wish you could be,” and his lover is simply “your repressed sexual appetite.”
“It was all a projection of your subconscious … nothing more … it’s all in your head .. you’re what we call delusional,” she says.
Based on the X-Men comics, Legion follows David Haller (Dan Stevens), a man who believed he was schizophrenic and remained locked up in a psychiatric hospital, but discovers he’s actually a telekinetic and telepathic mutant. And his friend from the hospital, Lenny, is actually a psychic villain known as Amahl “Shadow King” Farouk, who has haunted David his entire life.
Season two picks up with Farouk moving on to a new host, Oliver (Jemaine Clemente), and is on the way to attaining world-ending power.
And Plaza promises that “what’s coming is very, very, real.”
Legion premieres April 3 on FX.
