At its WWDC day on Monday, Apple released a teaser for its new original series, Foundation, based on the science-fiction novels by Isaac Asimov.

The series, which stars Jared Harris and Lee Pace, tells the story of a band of exiles who seek to save humanity and rebuild civilization after the fall of the Galactic Empire. As executive producer and showrunner David S. Goyer puts it in the above video, Star Wars was inspired by the story.

Besides Harris as Hari Seldon and Pace as Brother Day, the series also stars Lou Llobell as Gaal, Leah Harvey as Salvor, Laura Birn as Demerzel, Terrence Mann as Brother Dusk, and Cassian Bilton as Brother Dawn.

Along with Goyer, Foundation is executive produced by Robyn Asimov, Josh Friedman, Cameron Welsh, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross. The series is produced for Apple by Skydance Television.

Foundation is coming to Apple TV+ in 2021.
