A jury of executives from such illustrious companies as Turner Sports, the NHL and NASCAR converged on the Eventi hotel in New York last Thursday to cast their votes for the winners of the 2013 PromaxBDA Sports Media Marketing Awards.
The SMMAs celebrate and honor the year’s top creative work produced by and for the sports media marketing community and its partners. This year’s competition saw 50 new companies and teams submitting that had not submitted in past years, in categories representing National and International sports media organizations, Sponsors and Corporate Partners, Regional and Local organizations, Leagues and Governing Bodies, Teams, and an Intra-League category new to the 2013 SMMAs.
Designed to better streamline the competition, this year’s addition of the Intra-League category ensured that awards entries from the major sports leagues would only be judged against other entries from their same league. Whereas in past years, a spot from the NFL might have found itself going up against a spot from the NBA, under the Intra-League category it will only go up against other spots from the NFL.
Those wondering who the Sports Media Marketing Awards jury chose last week as 2013’s winners will have to wait until November 19, when the Sports Media Marketing Awards & Summit takes place at Capitale in New York. It’s a full-day professional development event focused on the issues, trends and emerging opportunities crucial to success in sports media marketing,
and it all culminates with the industry celebration of the year: the Sports Media Marketing Awards show.
