Arlene Manos, who has served as advertising sales president at AMC Networks since 2002, will transition to president emeritus by the end of the year.

Scott Collins, AMC’s executive vice president of sales, will take her place on January 1, 2017. He’ll oversee all ad sales for AMC, IFC, SundanceTV, WE tv, BBC America and BBC World News, and will report to CEO Ed Carroll.

“After more than a decade leading AMC Networks’ ad sales group, it is with affection and pride that I hand over the day-to-day reins to Scott Collins,” Manos said in a statement. “It has been an honor to be part of the team involved with creating what are among the strongest and most respected brands in entertainment.”

As president emeritus, Manos will take on larger projects and corporate initiatives that “could use some extra thought and time.” The new role, however, doesn’t indicate she’s stepping down from AMC Networks anytime soon.

“I really don’t like retirement,” she told Variety. “It’s really not for me.”

Manos joined AMC Networks when, true to its name, it was known for airing ad-free American movie classics. In her 14 years at the company, she spearheaded the 2003 transitions of WE tv, IFC and Sundance to fully ad-supported cable networks, while managing ad sales as AMC grew from having no original series, to airing groundbreaking series such as Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead. She also began overseeing ad sales for BBC America and BBC World News when AMC Networks acquired nearly half of BBC America in 2014.

“The experience of building this industry-leading team and succeeding in an era of rapid and seismic shifts in the media and entertainment marketplace have been among the most rewarding segments of my career,” Manos said in a statement. “I will continue to provide counsel to Scott, and I am confident he and this talented team will continue to achieve even greater success.”

Collins joined AMC Networks in 2008 as senior vice president of ad sales for WE tv before being promoted to manage the same function for all of AMC. He previously worked as vice president of national sales for NBCUniversal cable entertainment unit, and as an account executive at A&E Networks.

When he takes over in January, Collins will handle the day-to-day business, and has been groomed for the role.

“It’s something we’ve been talking about for a while,” Manos told Adweek. “When I hired Scott eight years ago, he was thought of as a probably successor to me, and that’s been nothing but confirmed, and it’s time for him to have the next move.”
