Those with Amazon’s Alexa-enabled devices can use the gadget to dive deeper into the complex world of USA’s psychological thriller Mr. Robot.
The new skill, called the Daily Five/Nine, offers an experience that takes place after the show’s Five/Nine Hack, where users enter an interactive story game from show creator Sam Esmail.
Essentially, it’s like a choose-your-own-adventure audio story drawn directly from the series, where not everything is what it’s presented to be. Players can make decisions at key moments, and possibly encounter characters from the show.
The Alexa skill was developed to be an extension of the show, Mr. Robot writer Randy Leon said in a USA Network blog post.
“The experience begins as a Five/Nine report, similar to something you’d see in the show. But of course, this being Mr. Robot, nothing is quite as it seems, and it soon devolves into something quite different, and perhaps much more sinister, than what you were expecting,” he says.
To participate, ask Alexa to enable the ‘Daily Five/Nine Skill’ and follow the instructions.
“This was a ton of fun to write,” Leon added, “and I really think this new technology let us create something unique that lets the player live the Mr. Robot story in an exciting way.”
