Anne Hathaway, Tina Fey and Dev Patel explore the complexities of romance in Amazon Prime Video’s eight-episode anthology, Modern Love.

The half-hour series, based on The New York Times’ column of the same name, chronicles “the open, honest, painful and sometimes messy search for love” in today’s world.

In the trailer, that includes a couple in marriage counseling, an unexpected pregnancy, a young woman with dating problems and more—all of which are inspired by real-life essays submitted to the eponymous column.

Modern Love is written, directed, and executive produced by John Carney (Sing Street). Jane Alexander, Sofia Boutella, Gary Carr, Olivia Cooke, John Gallagher, Jr., Andy Garcia, Julia Garner, Brandon Kyle Goodman, Catherine Keener, Cristin Milioti, Dev Patel, Laurentiu Possa, James Saito, Andrew Scott, John Slattery and Shea Whigham are all among the series’ cast.

Modern Love is produced by Amazon Studios, Storied Media Group and The New York Times. It premieres Oct. 18 on Amazon Prime Video.
