Alibi Music Library is expanding on its sound-effects catalog for TV promos, film trailers, commercials and other content with nine new albums spanning more than 800 audio files.
The collection of Stabs FX includes four albums of stabs in each key along with versions in major, minor, unison and cluster chords that can be used in horror and comedy promotion. The Los Angeles-based music and sound effects provider first realized that a package of stab sounds would come in handy for promo producers when music director Julia Trainor was doing a custom job for film The Addams Family in 2019.
“Our client needed a simple dramatic choir hit for their trailer, which we provided, and that segued into the idea of building out this incredible selection of stabs in different keys and sonorities, along with stems for the ultimate flexibility while mixing,” Carter said. “It’s all about making things as easy as possible for editors.”
The Simple Sexy FX series features five albums of sound editors’ most-needed basic sounds, such as subs, booms, whooshes, pings and bass drops.
“It actually began as a joke, as one of our most successful and frequently used FX is called ‘Sub Simple Sexy,’ which is like… ridiculously popular,” said Rainfall composer Jeff Dodson. “So we endeavored to fill a niche and create an entire toolkit from all we’ve learned of simple FX that are well-produced and hit huge – the basics that every editor needs in one large series.”
Alibi’s library of breathing sounds was just tapped for HBO’s promotion of its new documentary, Lindsey Vonn: The Final Season.
