ABC and Marvel Studios unveiled plans for a new behind-the-scenes TV doc timed to build buzz among fanboys and girls ahead of several upcoming Marvel releases.

“Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe” will give fans a look at the inception of the studio and its expansion into television.

The special will also feature sneak peaks at three upcoming Marvel films: “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Guardians of The Galaxy” and “The Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

With a March 18 air date, the special is timed to build buzz for the April 4 release of “The Winter Soldier.” Marvel fans are probably used to tuning into the Alphabet Network at that time anyway: “Assembling a Universe” will air in the slot usually occupied by “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

News of the special comes a day after Marvel parent Disney announced a landmark commitment to spend $200 million filming four upcoming live-action television series based on Marvel characters in New York City.

Disney chief Bob Iger joined New York Governor Andrew Cuomo at NBC Studios in New York for the announcement.

At least 60 episodes of the four series will be shot in the Big Apple. All will being airing on Netflix in 2015, and will be based on Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage.

Cuomo’s office said that the announcement marked the largest production commitment in state history. It is expected to generate 400 full-time and thousands of part-time production jobs.
