Media General’s WTNH New Haven is the top individual station finalist for the 2015 PromaxBDA Local Awards. The ABC affiliate earned eight finalists nods.

The full list of finalists was unveiled by PromaxBDA in Los Angeles on Thursday.

The annual PromaxBDA Local Awards celebrate and honor the best in marketing and design from the local market. With more than 40 awards and 150 nominations, the Local Awards recognize the best in a variety of categories from Art Direction, to Special News Reports, to Live Event Spots.

Top finalists’ include Canada’s Bell Media Agency, Groupe TVA - Canada’s largest private French-language broadcaster, TVO - the Ontario public broadcaster, and Tribune Creative West-Tribune’s in-house group.

This year’s competition includes an inter-studio rivalry in the Raleigh-Durham area, where WRAZ and WRAL have six and five entries, respectively. The two stations are part of the Capitol Broadcasting duopoly in the nation’s 25th largest market.

Rounding out the top of the finalists’ list are Gannett-owned KXTV Sacramento, NBC O&O WRC Washington DC, and a pair of Tribune-owned stations: WPIX New York and WSFL Miami.

Winners will be announced during a live ceremony June 25 hosted by Jonathan Kite of the Warner Bros. series 2 Broke Girls at The Mirage, Las Vegas. The awards ceremony and luncheon are part of the annual Station Summit gathering of local broadcasters.
