The look is in and the hosts are ready - this year’s Emmy Awards telecast is underway.
NBC’s very own Carson Daly (host of “The Voice” and “Last Call with Carson Daly,” also now on the “Today Show”) and Mindy Kaling (“The Mindy Project” is on Fox, but produced by NBCUniversal) have been tapped to announce the 2014 Emmy nominees on July 10, bright and early as always. The event will take place in North Hollywood at 5:40 a.m., the Television Academy announced today, as they also unveiled the key art for this year’s show.
Academy Creative Director Scott Buford says the new look is meant to honor the statue itself. Whereas in the past, the Emmy statuette had been shown in profile or odd angles, there was a conscious decision to move it to a stronger position and “dynamic, aspirational pose.”

NBC’s late-night host Seth Meyers will host the 66th Emmy Awards show on Aug. 25.

Brief Take: NBC is using all the on-air talent it can for this telecast, taking advantage of Daly’s hosting skills and Kaling’s loyal following for the announcement on July 10, and using the primetime event this August to promote Meyers on “Late Night.”
