Before viewers across the country have the opportunity to view “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey” on all of Fox’s networks—including Fox, National Geographic Channel, FX, FXX and Fox Sports 1 and 2—fans in top-ten markets will have the chance to preview the premier episode.
Free screenings of the first “Cosmos” episode will take place in New York, Miami, Detroit, Orlando, Washington DC, Chicago, Dallas, St. Louis, Los Angeles and San Francisco on Tuesday March 4th, five days before the network premier on Fox, Sunday, March 9th. Samsung Galaxy and Chrysler are sponsoring the viewings, which will take place in landmark planetariums, museums and theaters in each of the 10 cities.
After the screening, audience members will be able to participate in a live Q&A with “Cosmos” host Neil deGrasse Tyson as well as the program’s producers and co-producers: Seth MacFarlane, Ann Druyan, Mitchelle Cannold, Brannon Braga and Jason Clark. The live Q&A event will originate from The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, and the session will be uplinked by satellite to the nine other screenings locations, including New York’s American Museum of Natural History, for which deGrasse Tyson is the planetarium director.
Space is limited, and only fans that are quick to RSVP will get a confirmation and be admitted. But those who don’t live near one of the screening locations or aren’t able to get on the list will still have the opportunity to have their queries answered the by the panel. Questions can be submitted in advance on the programs Facebook page:www.facebook.com/cosmosontv and the answers will be streamed at www.cosmosontv.com.
“Cosmos” premiers the following Sunday on Fox networks. Each new episode of the 13 part series will then air Sunday evenings at 9pm ET on Fox, and then again on Monday nights on National Geographic Channel in the same time slot.
