Fox Sports and the famed Westminster Kennel Club announced a multi-year and multi-platform deal Monday that brings the Masters Agility Championship to the network through 2014.

Billed as a showcase of “America’s greatest canine athletes,” Fox Sports 1 will air the finals of the first-ever agility championships in a two-hour prime time telecast on Sat. Feb 8 at 7pm ET. The agility trials, which involve dogs and their handlers going through a wide array of obstacles, precede the club’s long-running All Breed Dog Show, which is in its 138th year. USA has the broadcast rights to the Best in Show competition on Tues. Feb 11, while CNBC will air the first day of competition on Monday Feb. 10. Both the agility championships and the larger dog show take place at Pier 94 and Madison Square Garden in New York City.

“We’re extremely pleased to have reached this agreement with the Westminster Kennel Club,” said David Nathanson, general manager and COO of Fox Sports 1 and 2. The program, he added, “is a terrific competition that puts canine agility and athleticism on display. It’s a terrific complement to the sports, events and programs already featured on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports digital assets.”

Agility events, according to the kennel club, are rapidly growing in the dog world.
