It looks like CBS was right when it called itself America’s No. 1 Network.
CBS, true to its No. 1 Network claim, topped the list of a recent Harris poll of America’s favorite TV shows. MediaPost reports that four of CBS’ primetime shows, “The Big Bang Theory,” “NCIS,” “Criminal Minds” and “CSI,” made the top four on the poll that asked TV fans: “Thinking about the shows that are currently on television, which two or three are your favorite shows?”
Next on the list was “Law & Order: SVU,” a show not high on the ratings list but popular because of syndication and reruns also being on the air.
Next was AMC’s “Breaking Bad,” a show not content to only be America’s sixth-favorite series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walter White has made a place for himself in the “Guinness World Records 2014,” as “Breaking Bad” has earned the title of highest-rated TV series. With a score of 99 out of 100 on MetaCritic.com, “Breaking Bad” gets to enter the 2014 book with the likes of Betty White (longest TV career for an entertainer—female).
Brief Take: Similar to taking home an Emmy, these nods give each series an extra push in finding fans and new audiences. Even though “Breaking Bad” is in its final season, the World Record can give it an extra push with VOD and streaming audiences after it goes off air.
