Joe Earley and David Madden are moving into new positions at Fox TV, with Earley named COO of Fox Television Group and Madden serving as president of entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox said Thursday.

In his new role, Earley will be responsible for development of Fox shows and international co-productions, as well as marketing oversight, multiplatform programming, scheduling and maximizing the 20th Century Fox television portfolio. He was previously COO of Fox Broadcasting Company, where he led the launch strategies for shows including Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Sleepy Hollow, New Girl and American Idol. Earley is also co-chair of PromaxBDA alongside NBC’s Scot Chastain.

Earley will report to Gary Newman and Dana Walden, co-chairs and CEOs of Fox Television Group, who said in a statement: “We are unbelievably excited for Joe to join us in the Fox Television Group as we work to more closely align our network and studio businesses. He is an exceptionally valuable leader within our company, with a unique ability to see the big picture, and we’re really looking forward to having him spearhead initiatives that take full advantage of the incredible opportunities across our series.”

Madden, the former head of Fox TV Studios, will oversee scripted programming and development at Fox Broadcasting. Fox is expected to name his replacement at Fox TV Studios soon.

“David is an incredible creative executive with an impeccable eye for talent who is respected tremendously by the creative community, his network and agency partners, and his colleagues alike. Over his nearly 15-year tenure at Fox Television Studios, David helped transform FTVS into one of the premier brands in cable programming, and we are elated to bring his stellar expertise and reputation to the FOX network,” said Walden and Newman.

Both Earley and Madden will begin their new roles immediately.
