Say goodbye to Disney stars drawing its boxy logo between shows - Disney Channel is ditching the box for a more streamlined logo for on-air use.
While this doesn’t signal an entire rebrand for the network, the new logo represents a more updated, consolidated global presence for its more than 40 channels around the world. The goal was to continue on with Disney tradition and incorporate the widely known signature, while keeping the look contemporary and reflective of the channel’s programming.
The old logo, based on Mickey Mouse ears, was used in on-air interstitials and idents starring Disney talent drawing the box around the logo onscreen. This was referred to as the “wand ID.”
According to Adweek, the previous logo was created as a temporary fix to larger screens that managed to stick.
