Pivot is programming a “Veronica Mars” takeover of its network ahead of the arrival in theaters of the highly-anticipated feature film adaptation on Friday.
The fledgling Millennials-themed cabler will feature 23-hours of back-to-back episodes for binge viewing, including the series pilot, the final two episodes of the second season, and the entire third season (including the series finale).
The network also plans to air original interviews with the cast, producers and fans sharing their favorite moments.
“Veronica Mars” has acquired a cult following since it first aired on UPN and The CW from 2004-2007. Fans helped contribute to a Kickstarter campaign that raised $5.5 million for the feature film, which reunited most of the original cast of the teen detective series.
Pivot’s “Veronica Mars” takeover begins Wednesday, March 12 at 1am ET/ 10pm PT, and runs through Thursday, March 13 at 12am ET/9:00pm PT.
Brief Take: Pivot is capitalizing on fan interest in the film premiere to draw Millennials to the channel and hopefully convert them to viewers of its regular “Veronica Mars” broadcasts.
