Tribune CEO Peter Ligouri is looking to forge a new path for the company’s tradition “superstation” WGN America.
Ligouri told an audience at NYC Television Week Tuesday that if he gets his way, WGN America will look more like his old company, FX.
The idea is to bring more original programming to the channel to make it “more valuable” to audiences, Madison Avenue, and distributors.
Already, WGN America is set to debut historical witch drama “Salem” sometime in Q3 or Q4 of 2014. The ultimate goal is to have something original for viewers to watch year round, with four 13-episode original series.
